The coordinator of the “Tunisia First” party, Ridha Belhadj, told TAP on Wednesday that advanced consultations are currently under way to reintegrate Nidaa Tounes movement.
He added “the movement consults with several political figures having resigned from the Nidaa party in order to reintegrate it”.
Former leader of “Nidaa Tounes” and director of the cabinet of the former President of the Republic until February 2016, Belhadj said that “the restructuring of the Nidaa Tounes movement could help it regain its strength and rebalance the political scene “.
Regarding the future of his party he had created with many resigners of Nidaa Tounes, Belhadj said that some of its leaders have conducted consultations to reintegrate the structures of the Nidaa Tounes movement and examine the possibility of an alliance between “Tunisia first”, Nidaa Tounes and several progressive parties in the perspective of forming a centrist democratic front.
Belhadj had met early last week with President Béji Caïd Essebsi for the first time since his resignation from his position as director of the presidential cabinet.
Restoring dialogue with the dissidents of Nidaa Tounes (Tunisia first and the Machrou Tounes movement) is one of the main points of divergence between the political body and the executive bureau of the movement.
Nidaa Tounes had a dissent after the election in 2014 of its founder Béji Caïd Essebsi as President of the Republic. Several parties were created by former leaders of the movement including the Bani Watani movement (Said Aidi), Al Mostakbal (Tahar Ben Hassine), Machrou Tounes (Mohsen Marzouk) and the movement Tunisia first (Ridha Belhadj).
