Austin Powers fans are in mourning. Verne Troyer, the actor who played the role of Mini-Moi in the second and third album died at the age of 49. Alcoholic, he had been suffering from depression for many years.
Suicidal, alcoholic, Verne Troyer’s life was a thousand miles from his hilarious role in the saga of the Austin Powers. The one who made millions of moviegoers laugh with his role as Mini-Moi, the miniature copy of the villain of the film, Dr. Denfer, died yesterday, Saturday, April 21. He was 49 years old. The sad news was announced on the official Facebook account of Verne Troyer: “It is with great sadness and an incredibly heavy heart that we must write that Verne died today”.
At the beginning of April, TMZ revealed that the actor had been rushed to hospital because of alcohol poisoning. In the rest of the release posted on Facebook, it is explained that the actor was living lately very difficult moments. The “fighter” that was Verne Troyer this time failed to tame his old demons. Yet in 2017, the actor had tried to get help for his alcohol problems.
A cure in rehab that will not have allowed the star to overcome his discomfort. If he was known for his role in Austin Powers, Verne Troyer was also the smallest known actor, according to the Guineness Book of Records. He had made appearances in many blockbusters. Men in Black, Las Vegas Parano or Harry Potter are some of the movies in which he played. His last appearance was in 2013, in an episode of the television series Legit.
